One of the major challenges facing the cataloging and metadata community today is continuing professional education. Practitioners in the field need to keep abreast of current developments and emerging trends in cataloging and metadata standards and digital technologies which play essential roles in rapidly evolving information environments. Our new three-year grant project, funded with the generous support of the Laura Bush 21st century librarian program, seeks a new approach to the provision of continuing education by developing an innovative mechanism for facilitating access to continuing education resources and opportunities for all levels of cataloging and metadata professionals nationwide.
